Visual Artist Unit was set up by 8 graduates from Grays School of Art and Duncan of Jordanstone in 2014. VAU commits itself to the dual aims of supporting emerging artists based in Scotland and improving public engagement and access to contemporary art for the wider community.
Emerging artists are invited to become Artist Members of VAU for support to not only develop their practice through skill share and group crits but also to gain professional development experience by participating in VAU’s public engagement programme.
VAU also provides groups of emerging artists with generously sized studio spaces at affordable prices at Crownpoint Studios in the East End of Glasgow.
As part of its public engagement programme, VAU hosts a range of exciting and innovative exhibitions, workshops, talks, commissions and events across Scotland. These activities aim to build bridges between artists and the public, helping to improve access and engagement in contemporary art for all.
