I am a visual artist working in printmaking, photography and drawing/ painting. My practise deals with different elements based on remote and extreme landscapes; the spirit of places, traces of the land and the sublime. Within certain remote places there is a distinct feeling of powerful atmosphere and so through my visual work I invite the viewer to feel the overwhelming presence of the landscape and the textures and marks that we do not necessarily notice. I challenge the way in which we view and perceive the landscape, it is affected, oppressive and raw. Itravel extensively around Scotland, Iceland and many more remote lands to build up the documentation within my work. My process of mark making and the washes and layers explored through my work are a direct way of showing how the unforgiving elements wear away the land. It all ties together to highlight the underlying meaning of the remote landscape and elements in which these vast places are exposed to.
