Artist Statement
The Internet has become the new horizon - a platform for which we place ourselves within and determine our position in relation to its vast and ever-changing qualities. As we immerse ourselves, we find the self becoming more weightless to gravity - experiencing freeness and limitlessness that is unique to this platform. “As you are falling, your sense of orientation may start to play additional tricks on you. The horizon quivers in a maze of collapsing lines and you may lose a sense of above and below, of before and after, of yourself and your boundaries.” Hito Steyerl My work attempts to explore the internet’s platform and our cultural relationship to it. By remixing imagery virtually and physically into one installation, this sense of leaping freefall is questioned. The transition and placement of blue and green in my work explores the concept of the sublime and how it can be created and modified through green screen technology to create a limitless space.
