Artist Statement

I'm a recent graduate from Gray's school of art, achieving a BA (HONS) in 3 Dimensional Design specialising in ceramics.
Currently I work from my own studio based in the east end of Glasgow where I'm able to make and develop my designs. My work derives from a passion for working with my hands and being inspired by colour and light. I don't have many concepts behind my work other than I like to explore. I experiment with glazes, manipulate the leather hard clay and embrace the unpredictability of the kiln and try to encourage change and movement during the firing process.
I feel I may be subconsciously inspired by the natural surroundings of my childhood which are the sea, natural erosion and the greenery of the west coast of Scotland as my material and process experimentation always leads me to a final outcome representational of some aspect of nature.
