The art of origami is a fascinating skill fundamental to my creative process. Alongside its ability to transform something very simple into something extremely complex, the act of repeatedly folding a piece of paper instigates a process of personal control that I seek within my working practice. Offering a therapeutic environment in which to create work, the methodical manipulation of such a simplistic material strives to produce something beautiful out of something seemingly mundane. Consequently, the physicality and fragility of my work welcomes a dynamic relationship with the viewer, offering an experience that engages more than just the visual. Its spatial surroundings present a continual means of exploration. Therefore, an integral balance resides in the relationship between the work itself and it’s presentation that is paramount to how the work is perceived as a whole.
